President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on October 4-5. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov briefed on the visit preparations to the Head of State during the online cabinet meeting on Friday, the country’s official media reports.
Meredov said the foreign ministries of both countries are currently carrying out joint comprehensive work to organize the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan.
A number of significant events, including the Turkmen-Uzbek Economic Forum, are scheduled to be held within the framework of the visit, the Foreign Minister said.
Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the constructive cooperation of the countries in a multilateral format, through leading regional and international organizations.
Stating the mutual focus of the parties on the further development of fruitful interstate relations, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to ensure a high organizational level of the upcoming official visit to Uzbekistan and the events within its framework.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were established in February 1993. The legal framework of bilateral partnership includes 221 documents.
