The 16th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation will take place in Tehran with the participation of high-ranking officials of Turkmenistan and Iran in the coming days, the Iranian news agency ISNA reported on Monday with reference to the statement of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Iran Ahmet Gurbanov.

Gurbanov said the meeting will be co-chaired by Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi.

Highlighting Turkmenistan’s ECO chairmanship this year, Turkmen Ambassador Gurbanov said “all the Presidents of the ECO member states were invited to participate in the 15th summit of the heads of the ECO member states, which will be held at the end of November in Ashgabat, ” and added that in this regard, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited his Iranian counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to take part in this meeting.

The 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in October 2019 in Ashgabat. During the talks, the delegations discussed the prospects for the development of partnerships.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi have held talks on the sidelines of the SCO summit in mid-September in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe. The Heads of State agreed to resolve the natural gas issue between the countries.
