Turkmen President, ECO Secretary General Discuss Preparations For ECO Summit
The Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri exchanged views on the prospects for further partnership of Turkmenistan with ECO.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met on Thursday with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri in Ashgabat. The sides discussed preparations for the 15th ECO Summit, scheduled to take place in Ashgabat on November 28, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

The Secretary General, who arrived in Ashgabat for the first time, expressing gratitude to the Head of State for the invitation to the country and highlighted the fruitful nature of Turkmenistan's work this year as an active member and chair of the ECO.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined the progressive dynamics of the dialogue with ECO, with which Turkmenistan has accumulated a solid experience of joint work, adding that the country successfully develops friendly and good neighborly relations with the member countries of this organization.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects for further partnership and its main vectors in the context of the current chairmanship of Turkmenistan in ECO and implementation of the relevant program. The meeting focused on preparations for the 15th ECO summit.

The potential of the ECO member states creates favorable opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in trade-economic sphere, industrial fields, introduction of innovations and advanced technologies, and investments, according to the report.

The ECO is a regional interstate economic organization founded in 1985 by the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East. Turkmenistan became the ECO member state in 1992.
