Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev and Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan Shadurdy Meredov in a meeting last Friday in Bishkek discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation.
Kazakbayev also informed about the preparations for the first EU – Central Asia Economic Forum, scheduled for November 5, and side events organized within the framework of the forum, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
The meeting also featured exchange of views on the state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Turkmen bilateral cooperation. The officials emphasized the significance of further strengthening the strategic partnership and interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan in the political-diplomatic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The sides additionally discussed issues of deepening trade-economic and investment cooperation, the transport sector ties and the implementation of infrastructure projects, including trade, investment and energy supplies.
Diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan were established in October 1992.
