President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi will be heading for Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat on Saturday upon an official invitation by his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to take part in the 15th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
At his speech at the summit, he will present Iran’s position and proposals on the expansion of regional and international relations, especially facilitating and improving cooperation and economic exchanges among the ECO members, the Iranian ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday.
During the visit, President Raisi will also hold bilateral meetings with other summit participants and discuss the ways to expand and deepen bilateral ties.
Meetings with Iranian business people residing in Turkmenistan is also on Raisi’s agenda during his visit, according to the report.
The ECO is a regional interstate economic organization founded in 1985. The members of the organization are Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
Turkmenistan, which holds the ECO chairmanship this year, will host the organization’s 15th summit on Sunday.
