Turkmen Leader Holds Meeting on Country’s Fuel and Energy Complex
The meeting was attended by the deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, overseeing the country’ fuel-energy and financial-economic complexes and heads of numerous specialized state structures.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday held a working meeting on the development of the country's fuel and energy, and financial and economic complexes.

The meeting was attended by the deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, overseeing the country’ fuel and energy, and financial and economic complexes and heads of numerous specialized state structures, the country's official media reports.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Shahym Abdrakhmanov, who is in charge of fuel and energy issues, briefed on activities to increase natural gas production, productivity of existing wells and develop new wells using advanced technologies.

Following the report, the Head of State emphasized the need to conduct an in-depth analysis of the current global consumption of natural gas, its prices, and addressed specific instructions to the Vice-Premier Abdrakhmanov. The Turkmen Leader also gave instructions to expand the geography of Turkmen gas exports to foreign markets, making urgent efforts to conclude contracts with interested neighboring and regional states for short-, medium- and long-term natural gas supplies.

To this end, the President also instructed to intensify development of Galkynyş deposit, one of the largest fields in the world.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of ensuring extraction of additional natural gas at other hydrocarbon fields in the country in order to successfully fulfill the obligations under the gas purchase and sale contracts in the coming years.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is in charge of economic and financial issues, briefed on the on the state of affairs in the areas under his supervision.

Summarizing the report, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Chairman to monitor the financial and economic state of the oil-gas complex.
