Turkish President Erdogan to Visit Turkmenistan
The Turkish President Erdogan’s two-day visit comes on the invitation of Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat on Saturday, where he will also participate in the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit.

Erdogan’s two-day visit comes on the invitation of Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Turkish Anadolu Agecny reported with reference to the statement issued by Turkey’s Communications Directorate on Friday.

He will hold meetings focused on Turkey-Turkmenistan relations, the press release said, adding that the meetings will also feature discussions on opportunities for further bilateral cooperation and on regional issues.

Erdogan will then attend the ECO summit, which will be held on Sunday under the theme of "Into the Future Together".

Erdogan will also hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of some participating member states on the sidelines of the summit. He will hand over the organization's term presidency to the Turkmen President.

On Friday, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arrived in Ashgabat to attend the 25th Meeting of the Council of Ministers and 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

He first met with a Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and discussed preparations for the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Turkmenistan and ECO Summit, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement.

The ECO is a regional interstate economic organization founded in 1985. The members of the organization are Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
