Ashgabat Hosts International Conference Dedicated to Neutrality Day
Upon the outcomes of the international conference, the officials signed 26 multilateral documents.

Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on Saturday hosted the International Conference "Politics of Peace and Trust – the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development" dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan and the International Day of Neutrality.

The event was attended by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the parliamentarians, heads of the government offices, heads of authoritative international and regional organizations, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations in Ashgabat, rectors of Turkmen higher education institutions, and media representatives, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on its website.

In his speech, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the principles of peacefulness, trust, openness to dialogue are organically inherent in the foundation of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.

We consider the neutrality of Turkmenistan as a factor of broad, constructive international cooperation, a positive impact on the settlement and resolution of existing issues and contradictions by peaceful, political and diplomatic means, at the negotiating table, the Turkmen Leader said.

The speakers at the conference highlighted that, taking into account its neutral status, Turkmenistan intends to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership with international and regional structures.

Upon the outcomes of the international conference, the officials signed a package of documents containing 26 multilateral acts.

The permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan was formally recognized by the UN system on December 12, 1995 by the UN General Assembly Resolution "Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan".
