Turkmenistan to Establish International News Center
The representative offices of a number of major international media are expected to open in Turkmenistan in 2022.

International News Center will be created in the structure of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.

During the online cabinet meeting on Friday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the proposal on creation of the International News Center.

The Proposal was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Government, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

The center will focus on three main tasks – regularly and promptly deliver information about Turkmenistan to the world community with the help of modern media technologies, cover in the national information sphere specific information about significant international political, economic and social events and establish, maintain and develop direct contacts with international news agencies, the Deputy Chairman of the Government said.

Meredov also presented proposals regarding the opening of representative offices of a number of major international media in Turkmenistan in 2022.

Having approved the proposals presented by the Foreign Minister, the Head of State instructed to study in detail organizational issues and carry out all the necessary work in accordance with national legislation and generally recognized international norms.

The cabinet meeting included discussions on the domestic issues and considered draft documents aimed at development of the national economy.
