President Berdimuhamedov Meets New British Ambassador to Turkmenistan
Lucia Wilde emphasized the effective nature of interstate cooperation and the existing large potential for its intensification.

Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan Lucia Wilde presented her credentials to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday.

The diplomat conveyed greetings from Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the Turkmen President of Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reports.

Lucia Wilde emphasized the effective nature of interstate cooperation and the existing large potential for its intensification.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues related to the intensification of cooperation in a number of key areas, including the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and environmental spheres.

Turkmen President and the British Ambassador also discussed cooperation in fuel-energy sector, trade-economic sector, processing industry and agriculture.

In this context, an important role is assigned to the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council, the Turkmen President said, expressing confidence that the activities of this structure will contribute to the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The British Ambassador assured the Turkmen Leader that, for her part, she will contribute to the further strengthening of British-Turkmen relations, the expansion of traditionally friendly cooperation between the two countries and peoples, the comprehensive development of bilateral economic and business ties.

Lucie Wilde has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan in succession to Hugh Stanley Philpott. Diplomatic relations between the UK and Turkmenistan were established in 1992.
