Turkmenistan is ready to start natural gas exports to Kazakhstan, starting from March, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov announced during the extraordinary videoconference meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States on Tuesday.
The extraordinary meeting was conveyed to discuss the recent developments in Kazakhstan.
Rashid Meredov said Turkmenistan will continue to work closely with all member states of the Organization of Turkic States to maintain lasting peace and security, which guarantees economic, social and humanitarian development in the countries of the region, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on its website.
Focusing on the recent developments in Kazakhstan, Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan is interested in the soonest normalization of the situation in this country, in further stable socio-political and socio-economic development of Kazakhstan.
Expressing his wishes for peace and prosperity to the Kazakh people, the top Turkmen diplomat assured that Turkmenistan will make all necessary efforts to achieve this goal.
To this end, Turkmenistan is ready to begin exports of natural gas to Kazakhstan, starting from March this year, and provide the neighboring country with the necessary amount of electricity, Meredov stated during the meeting.
On Monday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a letter of condolences to his Kazakh counterpar Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. The Head of State expressed deep condolences to Tokayev and the people of Kazakhstan in connection with the numerous human casualties and injuries resulting from the tragic events of recent days in Kazakhstan.
