President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday. Warmly greeting the Head of the friendly state, the Turkmen Leader said he was very saddened to hear the news of Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife being ill with a coronavirus infection.
"I wanted to talk to you, my dear brother, over the phone to ask about your affairs in the current situation in a personal conversation," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in a telephone call, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
On behalf of himself and his wife Mrs. Ogulgerek, the Turkmen President wished the Turkish Leader and his wife Mrs. Emine a speedy recovery and expressed his strong belief that they would overcome the disease in the shortest possible time due to their strong will and fortitude.
Taking this opportunity, the Head of Turkmenistan confirmed Turkmen side’s readiness to provide all possible assistance and support if necessary.
Having sincerely thanked the President of Turkmenistan for the words of support and good wishes, the Turkish Leader expressed his strong confidence in the unshakable relations of friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of Turkey and Turkmenistan.
Erdogan announced on Saturday that he and his wife had tested positive for the coronavirus infection. On Sunday, the Turkish President stated he continues to work remotely as medics said he has a mild form of the disease.
