Three More Candidates Nominated to Run in Turkmen Presidential Elections
The extraordinary congress of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan held on Monday in Ashgabat

Initiative groups of citizens in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz province and capital Ashgabat, and Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on Monday nominated their candidates to run in March 12 early presidential elections.

The Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan at its extraordinary congress in Ashgabat nominated Director of Wepaly Gurluşyk company Babamyrat Meredov for the highest government post, the country’s official media reports.

Babamyrat Meredov graduated from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction in 2001 as a systems engineer and taught computer science at the Beki Seytakov Pedagogical School in Dashoguz city until April 2012. Since October 2012, Meredov has been heading Wepaly Gurluşyk company.

The Ashgabat initiative group nominated Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Hydyr Nunnayev, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, to run in upcoming presidential race.

Hydyr Nunnayev started his career in 1997 after graduating from Ashgabat Medical College named after Indira Gandhi and serving in the Armed Forces of the country. Before entering the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sport, he worked in various health care institutions. After graduation in 2003, the candidate worked as a doctor at the Tejen etrap hospital. From 2005 to 2014, he taught at the Department of Theory and Methodology of Sports of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports, and since 2011, he headed this department. In 2014, he was appointed Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the institute.

In Dashoguz, the citizens’ group nominated Maksat Odeshov, Chairman of Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi etrap Committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, for the post of the President.

After graduating from the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov as a mechanical engineer In 2000, Maksat Odeshov began his career as a telecommunications operator in Turkmenistan's Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi etrap. From 2002 to 2008, Odeshov worked in various positions in the administration of this etrap and in December 2008 he was elected secretary of the etrap committee of the DPT. Since September 2013, he has been the chairman of this committee. The candidate was also a deputy of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fifth convocation.

The Central Election Committee of Turkmenistan on Monday registered three presidential candidates – Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiyev, Head of Sanitary-Epidemiological Service of Babadayhan etrap of Ahal province, Kakageldi Sariyev, Director of Research-Production center "Renewable Energy Sources" of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and Babamyrat Meredov, Director of Wepaly Gurluşyk company.
