Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mus will visit Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on Thursday to discuss the state and prospects of trade-economic relations between the two countries, the Ankara-based Anadolu news agency reported on Tuesday with reference to the Ministry of Trade of Turkey.
During his visit, the Turkish Trade Minister will be received by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The program of the visit of Mehmet Mus also includes talks with Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Deputy Chairman of Government in charge of economic and financial issues, Chary Gylyjov, the Deputy Chairman of Government overseeing the country’s trade and textile complex, and Mammethan Chakiyev, the General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers.
Among topics to be discussed will be investments and the work of contracting companies.
In 2021, trade turnover between Turkey and Turkmenistan reached $1.7 billion, an increase of 53% compared to 2020 ($985 million). Turkish exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $985 million, while imports reached $711 million.
To date, Turkish construction contractors have implemented 1,061 projects worth $50 billion in Turkmenistan.
