The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG) Baghdad Amreyev on Sunday, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s press release.
Amreev arrived in the capital of Turkmenistan at the head of the OTG observer mission to monitor the presidential elections.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan considers the development of relations with the Organization of Turkic States in organic manner with the general direction of its participation in regional and global processes.
The participants emphasized that Turkmenistan is interested in its partnership with a number of international structures affiliated with the Organization of Turkic States, especially the Council of Elders, TURKPA and the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The OTG Secretary General, in turn, thanked the Turkmen side for the invitation to the elections and highly appreciated the presidential elections held in Turkmenistan. He said the elections were held openly, transparently and democratically.
Amreev also emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's active participation in the activities of the international structure he represents, drawing special attention to a number of important projects and programs currently being implemented by the Organization of Turkic States.
In November last year, Turkmenistan joined to the Organization of Turkic States as an observer state.
