UNICEF provided dexamethasone medical products worth over $413 thousand to the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan for further distribution to relevant public healthcare institutions across the country, the United Nations Children's Fund announced in its Tuesday press release.
The delivered batch consists of 4.4 tons of tablets and ampules of dexamethasone products financed by the UNICEF.
The UNICEF said the delivery will contribute to the implementation of Turkmenistan’s National Acute Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan.
During the last decades, UNICEF has been supporting the Government of Turkmenistan by providing procurement and delivery services to protect and safeguard children and families with critical medicines, vaccines, vaccine-related equipment, and hygiene supplies, the UN entity said in its statement.
Dexamethasone products are used in a wide range of conditions as a common supportive treatment option for ill patients, both for children and elderly people.
