President of China Xi Jinping on Wednesday held a phone talk with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President-elect of the country Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed Xi Jinping about the results of the March 12 early presidential elections and of his intention to continue his work as the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty chamber of Turkmenistan's bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh.
Then the Turkmen Leader handed over the phone to the President-elect of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Congratulating Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his victory in the presidential elections, Xi Jinping wished him great success in his responsible work in this important post.
Expressing sincere gratitude to the Head of China for congratulations and wishes, the Turkmen President-elect confirmed his readiness to continue the foreign policy course initiated by incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, further develop a multifaceted partnership with China, and also fully support the ideas and proposals for deepening and building up the Turkmen -Chinese interaction.
Expressing confidence that the fruitful interstate relations will continue to steadily strengthen and expand for the common good, the incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the President-elect Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of China Xi Jinping wished each other health and success in responsible state activity, and peace, well-being and prosperity to the friendly peoples of the two countries.
Early presidential elections were held in Turkmenistan on March 12. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov won a landslide victory, gaining 72.97% of the votes.
