Turkmen Customs Service, ESCAP Mull Promotion of Paperless Trade Technologies
The project to implement the Single Window system in Turkmenistan, with the State Customs Service acting as a coordinating body, is currently underway.

Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Monday held a meeting with Shageldy Sultanmammedov, the national expert on promotion of paperless trade of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

The sides assessed the ongoing work on transition to paperless technologies in the system of customs procedures, the Turkmen State Customs Service said in its press release.

The Turkmen side said the customs authorities of Turkmenistan fully switched to a full-scale electronic customs declaration as a result of the introduction of an integrated customs information system ASYCUDA World. The system was introduced under the agreement on technical cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with the assistance of the UNDP in Turkmenistan.

The project to implement the Single Window system on the basis of this platform, with the State Customs Service acting as a coordinating body, is currently underway. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
