Turkmen President Meets Russian Deputy Prime Minister in Ashgabat
The sides particularly emphasized the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation as an effective mechanism for building and diversification of mutually beneficial economic ties.

The Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Saturday the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation Alexei Overchuk.

Alexei Overchuk arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit at the head of his country's government delegation, the official Turkmen media reports.

At the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted with satisfaction the level of interstate relations built on the solid foundation of the strategic partnership that meets the interests of the two neighboring countries.

The Turkmen President and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation. They highlighted the presence of great potential to intensify cooperation in key areas, including trade-economic and fuel- energy sectors, agriculture, light and processing industry, transport-communications area.

The sides particularly emphasized the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation as an effective mechanism for implementation of the agreements, building and diversification of mutually beneficial economic ties.

The talks placed a special emphasis on partnership issues in the development of Caspian Sea. The sides particularly discussed possibilities of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk expressed confidence in the successful development of mutually beneficial interstate cooperation.
