The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with the President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday.
During the phone call, Ebrahim Raisi said due to the measures during the previous presidency of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, “the interactions between Tehran and Ashgabat in various fields, including gas, transit and rail cooperation, have progressed well.”
“I am sure this process will be accelerated in the coming period with your management," President Raisi stated, IRNA news agency reports.
At the beginning of the talks, the Heads of State greeted each other and expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss priority aspects of bilateral cooperation. They exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, known in Turkmenistan as Oraza Bayramy, as well as wishes of good health, well-being, peace and prosperity to the Turkmen and Iranian peoples.
The sides discussed opportunities to enhance the bilateral partnership, taking into account the existing prospects and current realities. Noting the positive nature of the Turkmen-Iranian trade and economic contacts, the parties emphasized the importance of effective work of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, according to the official media of Turkmenistan.
Reaffirming the commitment of the countries to the inviolable, friendly and brotherly ties, the sides stressed that efforts would continue to be made to intensify the fruitful bilateral cooperation on the priority directions for the benefit of the Turkmen and Iranian peoples.
At the end of the telephone conversation, the Heads of States expressed confidence in the further successful development of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation and exchanged their good wishes for each other and the peoples of the countries.
