Turkmen Ambassador to Iran Attends ECO Meeting
The events were held in the city of Sari of Mazandaran province.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Iran Ahmet Gurbanov took part in the 264th meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and events held from May 10 to 12 on the occasion of the announcement of the Iranian city of Sari as the ECO tourist center.

The events were held in the city of Sari of Mazandaran province, the tourist and cultural center of Iran, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Iran told Business Turkmenistan.

The opening ceremony of the events was attended by the Governor of Mazandaran province Seyyed Mahmoud Hosseinipour, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Iran Ezzatollah Zarghami, high-ranking officials of the province, diplomats from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Ezzatollah Zarghami said a way to promote tourism between the ECO member countries is to encourage cheap overland travel, according to the Iranian newspaper Tehran Times.

In his speech, Governor Hosseinipour stated the main priority of Mazandaran is to attract international investors into the province.

On the sidelines of the events, the Turkmen Ambassador held a meeting with the Governor of Mazandaran to discuss cooperation matters.

The events included a trip to one of the main ports on the Caspian Sea – the port of Amirabad, which is located along the North-South transit route.
