Turkmenistan will allow the foreign freight trucks with drivers from the Iranian border the transit of its territory to reach Uzbekistan starting June 1.
The road freight movement for trucks will be allowed along the route Sarakhs-Farap-Sarakhs, provided all necessary requirements are met, Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Road Transport) announced on Friday.
The decision was made “on order to effectively use the international transport corridors of Turkmenistan and increase the volume of international freight traffic.”
In accordance with the current sanitary procedures, the foreign trucks can only enter certain meters into the Turkmen territory. The trailers with cargo are then transferred to Turkmen trucks, which deliver the cargo to its destination on the territory of Turkmenistan or to a third country.
