Turkmen President Meets UN Deputy Secretary-General in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday in Ashgabat received First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Chairperson of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development Amina Mohammed.

President Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with major international organizations, primarily with the United Nations, the official Turkmen media reports.

The sides exchanged views on the state and prospects of long-term fruitful cooperation. The possibility of joint work in the field of sustainable development for the period up to 2030 was also discussed during the talks.

The UN Deputy Secretary-General thanked the Turkmen President for his active role in addressing important issues such as ensuring global energy security, developing broad international cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, rational use of resources, climate change and environmental protection.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in turn, said Turkmenistan intends to continue to take an active part in international efforts in strategically important areas.
