At the initiative of Turkmenistan, the first meeting of the working group aimed at creating international transport corridors in the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran and Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey directions was held in Ashgabat on Monday.
The initiative was put forward to strengthen economic ties in the Economic Cooperation Organization region, as well as the development of all modes of transport in international combined freight transport, the Ashgabat based Orient news agency reports.
The meeting was attended by representatives of state structures on transport of Turkmenistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkey.
The officials also discussed the feasibility of creating a single register of dangerous goods, checkpoints and maps of roads and railroads.
The meeting was held within the framework of the two-day conference "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development".
