Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Trade Up 9.7% in First Half of 2022
Uzbekistan imported $326.4 million worth of Turkmen products.

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in the first six months of this year amounted to $418.2 million, an increase of 9.7% compared to the same period of last year, according to the report published by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan last Wednesday.

During the January-June period of this year, Uzbekistan imported $326.4 million worth of Turkmen products, an increase of over 5.5% compared to the same period of last year. At the same period, the country’s exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $91.8 million, an increase of 27.6% compared to the same period of last year. Turkmenistan is listed among the top ten trading partners of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan's total foreign trade turnover during the six-month period neared $24.5 billion, which, compared to the same period in 2021, is an increase of nearly $6 billion, or 32.4%.

Over the period, Uzbekistan traded the most with China – more than $4.53 billion, with its imports nearing $3.38 billion, and exports – exceeding $1.25 billion.

Other main partners of Uzbekistan by trade turnover during the period are Russia (more than $4 billion), Kazakhstan (more than $2.1 billion), Turkey (more than $1.74 billion), Korea (more than $1.3 billion), Kyrgyzstan ($589.2 million), Germany ($558.4 million), Afghanistan ($369.2 million) and India ($324.7 million).

In 2021, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $881.9 million, which is 61% more compared to 2020.
