Turkmenistan's position remains unchanged: It is committed to ‘one China’ policy and supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China on the basis of international law, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release on the meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev and Ambassador of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng on Friday.
Discussing international issues, the diplomats stated the coincidence or similarity of positions of Turkmenistan and China on the most pressing issues of the global agenda, and also noted the active cooperation at the regional level.
The sides recognized that the key to this successful work is the strict adherence by both countries to the norms and principles of the UN Charter, and in the first place, respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of each other.
For many years, Turkmenistan has repeatedly declared its support for the policy of ‘one China’, which was documented in all fundamental Turkmen-Chinese official documents, according to the statement.
The diplomats also discussed a wide range of issues relating to further development of Turkmen-Chinese relations. They stated the high efficiency of implementation of joint economic and socio-cultural projects.
The sides stressed that meetings at the highest levels are the main factor in deepening the relations of strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China. In this regard, they proposed to discuss organization of reciprocal state, parliamentary and government visits.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue diplomatic contacts in accordance with the previously outlined plans.
