The Turkmen-Uzbek working group on transport issues met on Monday and Tuesday in Uzbekistan and expressed interest in the full resumption of the process of transporting cargo by road between the two states, as well as in simplifying the requirements for transporting cargo.
The Uzbek side made proposals to the Turkmen side to simplify the requirements and reduce the time for issuing entry visas to Turkmenistan for Uzbek drivers, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan said in its press release.
The parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the development of transport corridors in order to increase the volume of freight traffic by rail and road.
The Uzbek officials also proposed to intensify work on organizing passenger transportation between the two countries. The parties agreed to intensify work within the framework of the Ashgabat Agreement with all participants in the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman transport corridor.
The sides additionally considered other practical issues related to the implementation of international freight traffic. The meeting resulted in the signing of an appropriate protocol.
