President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday took part in the celebrations at the International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex dedicated to the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, the official Turkmen media reports.
During the celebrations, Akhal-Teke horses competed in seven races at different distances. The winners of first six races received a cash prize of 100 thousand manats. The winner of the seventh race was awarded a cash prize of 300 thousand manats, established by the president of Turkmenistan.
Meetings with representatives of foreign companies
Within the framework of the celebrations, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Peter Kallos, the Executive Chairman of the oil and gas company Buried Hill Energy, who is in Turkmenistan for the festivities marking the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
During the meeting, Kallos emphasized the great interest of Buried Hill Energy, which has been successfully operating in Turkmenistan for many years, in further close cooperation in developing promising hydrocarbon fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea shelf and training of highly skilled national personnel for the oil-gas industry.
The Head of Turkmenistan also met with Markwart von Pentz, the President of Agriculture and Turf Division at John Deere.
At the meeting, Markwart von Pentz informed the Head of State of the steps taken in the light of past agreements and expressed the company's desire to expand the areas of cooperation and the range of agricultural machinery supplied to Turkmenistan that suits local soil and climatic conditions, including the latest types of machinery for sowing and harvesting campaigns.
Turkmenistan solemnly celebrated the 31st anniversary of its independence on September 27.
