Turkmenistan’s Seven-Month Trade Turnover With Kazakhstan Reaches $228.8 Million
In 2021, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $254.3 million

The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in the first seven months of this year reached $228.8 million, which is close to the trade turnover amount of the last year, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan Askar Tazhibayev said in his article published in Neytralnyi Turkmenistan newspaper’s Wednesday issue.

He informed that in 2021, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $254.3 million, adding that this is almost two times higher than in 2020.

“At the same time, the heads of our states have set a task to bring the level of trade turnover to $1 billion in the next five years,” Tazhibayev said.

In his article, the Kazakh envoy also stated the active development of cross-border cooperation between the countries.

“Much attention is paid to the potential of interaction between the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan and the Balkan province of Turkmenistan,” Askar Tazhibayev stated, adding that, “The creation of a special cross-border trade zone at the border of the two countries is in prospect.”

He noted that in the year of the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries, the first state visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Kazakhstan will take place and the preparations for it are at the final stage.

Diplomatic relations between the countries were established in 1992.
