The railway authorities of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan held an online meeting on Sunday to discuss joint rail projects,
The sides discussed in detail such topics as speeding up the process of sending Afghan students to Turkmenistan for training, the implementation of the 30-kilometer section of Aqina-Andkhoy railroad project, and the construction of an extension of the railway line from Aqina to Mazar-e-Sharif, according to the press release of Afghanistan Railway Authority.
During the talks, the Turkmen side promised to dispatch a technical delegation to Aqina in the near future to make a decision on the construction of a 10-kilometer railroad, which will stretch from Andkhoy station to the center of Andkhoy.
Afghanistan's railway network is currently connected to Turkmenistan's railway system through two border points, Turghundi and Aqina.
