The Turkmen delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Berdiniyaz Myatiyev visited Qatar on October 16-17. During the visit, several bilateral meetings were held on political-diplomatic, trade-economic, financial-banking and energy issues.
On Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister Myatiyev met with Sultan Bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its Monday press release.
The sides considered expanding bilateral relations in trade-economic, political-diplomatic, cultural-humanitarian spheres and enhancing cooperation in investment and transport sectors. The sides also stated the need to improve the legal framework of bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the Turkmen delegation met with management of the Qatar Development Bank to discuss important issues of trade-economic cooperation. The sides reviewed issues relating to expansion of cooperation in the financial and banking sectors.
The delegation of Turkmenistan also met with senior officials of the Ministry of Energy of Qatar. The sides exchanged views on development of mutually beneficial relations in the energy sector between the two countries and discussed investment projects in different sectors of the economy.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar were established in 1996.
