Turkey and Turkmenistan intend to increase mutual trade turnover by 2.5 times to $5 billion, TASS news agency reported on Saturday with reference to the article published by Ambassador of Turkey to Ashgabat Togan Oral on the occasion of the Turkey’s Republic Day.
"Turkey remains one of Turkmenistan's largest trade partners. Despite the pandemic, foreign trade between Turkey and Turkmenistan increased by 41 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year and exceeded $2 billion," Togan Oral said in the article.
"We aim to reach the $5 billion goal set by our Presidents as soon as possible," Oral added.
The countries thus aim to increase mutual trade turnover by 2.5 times by the level of 2021.
Oral stated that Turkish companies working in the construction sector, energy, textile industry, financial sector and other fields have currently implemented over 1 thousand projects worth $50 billion in Turkmenistan.
Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Turkey in the first 8 months of 2022 reached $1.33 billion.
