Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin at a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, on Wednesday invited him to take part in a meeting of parliament heads of the Caspian region to discuss key issues of interregional cooperation, according to the Press Service of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
The meeting took place within the framework of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s friendly visit to Moscow.
"The plans, if you support it, are to meet in the format of the parliament heads of of the Caspian Basin countries in Baku next year to discuss the development of relations within the parliamentary dimension," Vyacheslav Volodin suggested.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his support for the initiative of State Duma Chairman and his Azerbaijani colleagues, adding that "it is the right approach. We need to specify our formats of work and the legal framework.”
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman informed that Turkmenistan pays much attention to the Russian language. He added that by the decision of the presidents the foundations of the Russian-Turkmen University will be laid next year.
The three-day friendly visit of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Russian capital Moscow started on Tuesday.
