Turkmen, Kazakh, Russian Companies Agree to Develop Joint Railway Service
The parties intend to develop railroad routes by launching new regular trains between the countries.

The major transport companies of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia –Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM), KTZ Express and RZD Logistics –signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at development of joint railway service.

“The document provides for organization of regular transportation of goods in trilateral and transit traffic, increasing the volume of international import and export freight traffic, development of cooperation aimed at realizing the potential of the North-South railway corridor, as well as joint use of transport and logistics infrastructure,” KTZ Express said in its Thursday press release.

According to the agreement, the parties intend to develop railroad routes by launching new regular trains between the countries, including shorting of delivery time of agricultural products and foodstuffs. Within the framework of the memorandum, they will introduce technological innovations and joint solutions to improve the efficiency of the North-South route.

RZD Logistics JSC, a subsidiary of the state-owned Russian Railways company, while KTZ Express JSC is a subsidiary of national railway company of Kazakhstan Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan OJSC is a major transport company in Turkmenistan, the majority of shares of which are owned by the state.
