Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on Friday in Samarkand, the official Turkmen media reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on being awarded the “Highest Order of the Turkic World”.
In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said “the high level of mutual trust and openness inherent in our interstate dialogue is an essential factor in the development of a constructive partnership,” noting that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Uzbekistan, based on strong ties of friendship and good neighborliness that have stood the test of time.
Emphasizing the immeasurably important role of inter-parliamentary contacts in the established productive dialogue, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that further intensification of interaction between legislative bodies, exchange of experience in the development of laws can be an important step in strengthening and developing bilateral partnership.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman also held talks with the Presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
