Truck Traffic Through Sarakhs Crossing in Turkmenistan-Iran Border Triples
Turkmenistan’s trucks have started their traffic across the border with Iran after a 3-year period due to the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of trucks crossing the Sarakhs crossing in Turkmenistan-Iran border in September was 200 per day and in October, it reached 600, Iran Front Page news website reported on Thursday with reference to the Acting Governor of Iran’s Sarakhs city Hassan Nourizadeh.

Turkmenistan’s trucks have started their traffic across the border with Iran after a 3-year period due to the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hassan Nourizadeh also said the Turkmen Government has removed the $1.5 duty per kilometer for Iranian trucks and has called for an increase in the working hours of the Sarakhs border crossing.

According to the Acting Governor of Sarakhs, over half of the trucks crossing through Sarakhs the border are Iranian, and the rest are from other countries, including Turkey.

On November 7, Turkmenistan opened some of its border checkpoints for foreign and domestic vehicles with drivers.
