Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during the online government meeting hosted by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday briefed on the proposal to consider establishing a joint Turkmenistan-United Arab Emirates Business Council.
The Foreign Minister’s report on the government meeting focused on the outcome of the official visit of Turkmen President to the UAE on November 21-22, according to the Turkmen official media.
Meredov voiced the proposal to prepare a Work Plan on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry for 2023-2024, as well as to consider establishing a joint Business Council and hold its first meeting next year.
He also informed that the UAE delegation led by the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber is expected to pay a visit to Turkmenistan in the near future.
In addition, based on the prospects for cooperation in tourism field it is proposed to organize consultations between the Ministry of Culture and representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan with representatives of specialized structures of the UAE.
During the Turkmen President’s UAE visit, the sides signed 13 documents at the intergovernmental and interdepartmental level, as well as 8 documents in the business sector.
To put the agreements into practice, the Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE is expected to hold a meeting in Abu Dhabi in the first half of 2023 and to develop the Roadmap for further expansion of the Turkmen - Emirati partnership.
