Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Meets Leaders of Major South Korean Companies
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed that more than 13 projects worth over $11 billion have been registered in Turkmenistan with the participation of South Korean companies.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of the Turkmenistan’s bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, during his visit to Republic of Korea on Tuesday held a meeting with major South Korean businesses.

The meeting was attended by heads of Hyundai Engineering, Hyundai Corporation, Hyundai Motor, Korea Export-Import Bank KEXIM, LX International, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI), MESCO, National Institute of Korean Medicine, Chilgok Hospital of Kyungpook National University, Research Institute of Convergence Technology KITECH and KD Navien, according to the official Turkmen media.

During his speech, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said this meeting is an excellent opportunity to discuss the prospects for cooperation, plans for the future and a clear understanding of the positions and goals of each side.

The national legal framework that has been brought in line with international law plays a major role in attracting foreign investors, said Berdimuhamedov, adding that the country has adopted effective laws in the field of taxation, investment, free enterprise. The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman also stated that actions have been taken to improve the stability of the financial system of Turkmenistan, primarily through the unification of the exchange rate, and strengthening of the national currency.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed that more than 13 projects worth over $11 billion have been registered in Turkmenistan with the participation of South Korean companies.

Highlighting the start of Ashgabat-city megaproject, the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman said, “We are aware of Daewoo Engineering & Construction's interest in participating in this project and support its aspirations," and invited other representatives of Korean businesses to cooperate in modernizing urban planning based on the latest technology and management solutions.

According to the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman, Turkmenistan regards the Republic of Korea as one of its priority economic partners with whom it intends to build long-term strategic relations.

The ceremony of signing of bilateral documents between specialized structures and business circles of the two countries was held following the meeting.

Then the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman held meetings with the leaders of Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Engineering and LX International.

On Tuesday, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol.
