Turkmenistan and Russia are working to set up a joint commission on transport, transit and logistics, according to the report by Mammethan Chakiyev, the General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers, presented during the online cabinet meeting hosted by President Serdar Berdymuhamedov on Friday.
According to Chakiyev, the creation of the commission is planned in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on cooperation in transport and transit, as well as to increase bilateral and transit traffic, develop logistics and effectively use transport potential, the official Turkmen press reports.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated the strategic importance of transport routes connecting Turkmenistan and Russia and the relevance of implementing joint large-scale infrastructure projects. Stressing the importance of taking appropriate measures to increase the transit traffic, the Turkmen President addressed specific instructions regarding the issue to the Head of the Agency.
The government meeting discussed priority issues of state affairs and adopted documents aimed at further development of the national economy.
