Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Mull Prospects of Cooperation
During the talks, the sides stated that friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are successfully developing in different fields.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Monday in a meeting in Baku with the visiting Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between the countries.

During the talks, the sides stated that friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are successfully developing in different fields, including economic, transport and humanitarian area, the Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan said in a statement.

The sides underscored the role of the visit by Azerbaijani President to Turkmenistan this year and his meetings with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of the Turkmenistan’s bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh in the development of bilateral relations.

During his visit, Rashid Meredov also held a meeting with Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.

In a tweet, Jabbarov said the talks touched upon the development of the relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the strengthening of the economic ties, as well as the expansion of cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan were established on June 9, 1992. In total, 108 documents were signed between the countries. The trade turnover between the two neighbors amounted to $105 million in 2021.
