The shipment is part of the development of container service along the corridor Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran.

KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway company of Kazakhstan, carries out the transportation of sesame seeds from India to Kazakhstan via Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The shipment is part of the development of container service along the corridor Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran, KTZ said in its press release issued last Thursday.

The containers with products were first shipped from the port of Mundra in western India to the port of Bandar Abbas (Iran) by sea transport. From then on, containers will move by rail and travel to Almaty via Iran, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The travel time for the shipment is more than 20 days.

The service is part of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran rail corridor development plan, KTZ said. This corridor is part of the eastern branch of the North-South international transport corridor. It runs along the railroads of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran – and then along the sea route to the countries of the Persian Gulf and South Asia.
