Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Consular, Border, Customs Issues Meet in Ashgabat
The sides discussed issues related to the improvement of the legal aspect of activating the mechanism of cooperation in consular affairs.

The 15th Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Consular, Border and Customs Issues was held on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev and the delegation of the Iran was led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Expatriate Affairs Ali-Reza Bigdeli, according to the press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The sides discussed issues related to the improvement of the legal aspect of activating the mechanism of cooperation in consular affairs and information exchange between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, as well as expanding partnerships for the establishment of effective management at border and customs checkpoints.

During the meeting, the parties also considered the implementation of agreements reached at the 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, which was held in Tehran in January 2019.

A final protocol was signed following the 15th meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Consular, Border and Customs Issues.

Within the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan, Ali-Reza Bigdeli also met with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

Turkmen and Iranian officials discussed prospects for cooperation in the electricity sector, transportation and the oil-gas industry.
