Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of meetings with Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE, Pham Quang Hieu, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the WTO Director General in Dubai on Monday.
The meetings were held within the framework of a visit by a Turkmen delegation led Rashid Meredov to attend the World Government Summit, which takes place February 13-15 in the UAE, according to the official Turkmen media.
During the meeting with Mohammad Abdullah Al-Gergawi, it was stressed that the recent official visit of Halk Maslakhaty Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the UAE opened new prospects for the development of Turkmen-Emirati relations. The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Turkmenistan and the UAE on the exchange of experience in the development and modernization of the state.
The meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam discussed matters related to promotion of cooperation in different sectors of the economy and cultural ties.
During the meeting the WTO Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Meredov stated that Turkmenistan is interested in expanding cooperation with this specialized organization and confirmed that Turkmen side will contribute to the global sustainable economic development.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in turn, stressed that Turkmenistan's economic strategy and the work carried out on its implementation is highly appreciated in the WTO.
World Government Summit held under the theme of “Shaping Future Governments” gathered 20 state and government heads, more than 250 ministers and 10 thousand international government officials, experts and other authoritative people of different countries.
