Heads of customs services of Turkmenistan and Iran during the talks held at the Howdan-Bajgiran checkpoints on the Turkmen-Iranian border on February 28, discussed the proposals on the use of electronic system e-TIR, the Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.
The first half of the day, the meeting, held at the Bajgiran customs post of Iran, discussed activation of joint measures to prevent customs offenses, activities of the joint border market Howdan-Bajgiran.
In the afternoon, the Iranian delegation was welcomed on the Turkmen side. At the Howdan customs post, sides substantially exchanged views on proposals for the provision of transit services, exchange of customs data and joint training activities.
Summing up the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the development of customs cooperation will further develop the Turkmen-Iranian trade-economic cooperation, significantly increase the efficiency of transport and transit potential of the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Iran to Turkmenistan and Consul General of Turkmenistan in Mashhad.
This is the second joint meeting of the delegations at the Turkmen-Iranian border.
