Regional Customs Services Discuss Transit Customs Procedure Simplification

A multilateral meeting of the heads of customs services of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Georgia was held on Wednesday in Baku, Azerbaijan, to discuss a project to simplify the transit customs procedure on the one-stop principle along the Trans-Caspian East-West International Middle Corridor, Azerbaijan Customs Service reported in its press release.  

Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, representatives of the UN Economic Commission for Europe and International Road Transport Union (IRU) also took part in the meeting.

The parties discussed the process of facilitating border crossing processes, expanding economic opportunities for the region's countries, and using previously submitted transit customs declarations as transit documents.

As a result, the heads of customs services of the participating countries adopted the "Plan of measures for the development and implementation of a simplified transit procedure based on the "single window" principle along the Trans-Caspian East-West International Middle Corridor" and signed the final protocol of the meeting.
