A mass cycling event took place to commemorate World Health Day on Sunday in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.
Many participants gathered for the sporting event, including Deputy Prime Ministers, heads of Mejlis, ministries and departments, military and law enforcement agencies, city administration officials, public organizations, media representatives, university rectors, national cyclists, and students. Traditionally, heads and representatives of accredited diplomatic missions and international organizations in Turkmenistan also participate in the bike ride on World Health Day.
During the cycling event, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov directed Baymyrat Annamammedov, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the capital, to keep the further improvement and greening of Ashgabat under constant control. This includes the creation of new garden-park areas, maintenance of ecological well-being, and comprehensive modernization of urban infrastructure. The President emphasized the importance of ensuring comfortable socio-living conditions for the people.
The mass cycling event began in Ashgabat at the Bicycle monument, located at the intersection of Chandybil Avenue and Bekreve Street, and finished at the intersection of Bitarap Turkmenistan Avenue and A. Niyazov Avenue.
On Sunday, in celebration of World Health Day, cycling events were also organized in the city of Arkadag and in all regions of the country.
Furthermore, roundtable discussions, scientific-practical conferences, competitions, and demonstrations in various sports, as well as promotional, physical fitness, and cultural events, were held in Turkmenistan to mark this occasion.
