National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, together with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited several cultural and historical landmarks in the city of Turkestan, Turkmen state media reported on Monday.
The visit began at the Hazret Sultan historical and cultural reserve-museum, where the two leaders viewed the architectural heritage of the region, including the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
Later, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and President of Kazakhstan toured the Ethnoaul national cultural complex, featuring a display of 30 traditional yurts, each showcasing element of Kazakh crafts, customs, and everyday life.
The leaders also visited the Turkistan Visit Centre, which highlights the city’s history and tourism potential, followed by the Karavansaray Turkistan tourist complex, an architectural ensemble built in the style of an Eastern fairytale, featuring hotels, artisan workshops, and cultural zones.
