The Turkmen fashion house Mähirli Zenan, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, presented its collections at the 8th International Festival "Woman and Fashion in the Turkic World: Decorative and Applied Arts," held June 28–29 in Aktau, Kazakhstan, according to Turkmenistan's official media.
Organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), the festival brought together designers, artisans, and artists from over 13 Turkic countries and regions. Turkmenistan’s participation in the event offered an opportunity to highlight the richness of its national culture on the international stage.
The showcased collections featured traditional embroidery and ornaments, incorporating authentic materials such as ketene and tara, emphasizing the deep connection to the nation’s centuries-old heritage. The ethnic style, organizers noted, is increasingly present in everyday life in Turkmen society — reflected in fashion, interior design, music, and cinema.
The festival program included exhibitions, workshops, craft fairs, and fashion shows, culminating in a gala presentation of original designer collections that blended traditional motifs with contemporary silhouettes. In his remarks, TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev noted that women are bearers of the Turkic world’s civilization and that each ornament tells a story of identity and history.
Turkmenistan’s participation in such international cultural events supports the strengthening of cultural cooperation and mutual understanding among Turkic nations, while promoting Turkmen art and craftsmanship on the global stage.
