A panel session titled “July 15: Memory, Justice and the Future” was held in Ankara as part of an international media program dedicated to Democracy and National Unity Day.
The event took place at the Presidential Communications Directorate building in Ankara and was attended by Burhanettin Duran, Head of the Directorate, Türkiye Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Bekir Bozdağ, and other officials.
During the session, Duran reported that over 21,000 projects were implemented in 2025 under the national program “The Name of Victory — Türkiye.” By comparison, 11,369 projects were completed in 2024, highlighting, he said, growing public interest in protecting the constitutional order.
Vice President Yılmaz called for further strengthening of democratic standards and expressed support for all citizens who demonstrated civic resilience during a critical moment for the country.
On July 17, program participants visited the Bosphorus Bridge—known as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge—and the July 15 Memorial Museum in Istanbul. The suspension bridge, connecting the European and Asian sides of the city, is 1,500 meters long and 34 meters wide, and has become a symbol of civic resilience.
Later that day, a press briefing was held at Istanbul’s municipal building, where Governor Davut Gül shared his memories of the July 15 events. He stressed that actions aimed at disturbing public peace failed to break the people’s resolve. According to him, citizens who stood to defend democratic values demonstrated unity and courage.
The international media program, which brought together about 200 representatives of Türkiye media from 81 provinces and more than 120 foreign journalists from 41 countries, took place from July 14 to 18 in Ankara and Istanbul.
