A cultural evening titled "Treasures of Independence: A Celebration of Turkmen Heritage" was held in Brussels to mark Turkmenistan’s Independence Day, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium reported on Monday.
Organized by the Embassy, the event brought together representatives of European Union institutions, ambassadors from Central Asian countries, the Secretary-General of the Benelux Union, diplomats, cultural figures, and members of the media.
Modern Turkmen designers took center stage at the event, with a standout fashion show by the Göwher Gouvernet brand, created by Turkmen designer and artist Gowher Gouvernet-Pirkulieva.
Gaia Danese, Cultural Adviser at the European External Action Service (EEAS), highlighted the importance of cultural exchange as a foundation for mutual understanding among nations.
In his remarks, Turkmen Ambassador Sapar Palvanov emphasized that Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, recognized by the United Nations, provides a broad platform for cooperation and dialogue — one that is enriched by creativity and modern approaches.
The evening served as another step toward strengthening cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Europe, demonstrating how art can bring people together and foster an atmosphere of friendship, trust, and peace.
